Fractured Films

This brief was part of a Designer Led Module, given to us by ustwo's Joe Macleod. Throughout the project Joe gave us all helpful feedback and advice, guiding us to produce creative and daring results.

The brief
Redesign the closure experience of an established product, service or digital offering.

I chose to redesign the closure of the cinema experience, because everything is very dramatic and exciting, but once the film is over everyone leaves in ones and twos, stumbling and rubbing their eyes.

My solution to this closure issue was to create a innovative new new kind of an  ‘fractured’ cinema experience, which I called Fractured Films. The lack of type, iconography and black and yellow colour are inspired by hazard symbols, and used in the branding to tell a story.
How Fractured Films works
1. The audience members arrive at the venue

2. The audience members are free to wonder from room to room, witnessing fractured pieces of an intricate narrative

3. The audience meets up to gain emotional closure by taking all the fragments each audience member has and piecing the story together.
A range of posters were produced that make use of simple iconography to break the narrative down to it’s purest essence, whilst the maths theme represents the audience adding the clues together.
